Abstract
1,171,795. Determining partition coefficients; controlling processes. INCENTIVE A.B. 13 Dec., 1966 [16 Dec., 1965], No. 55836/66. Heading B1X. [Also in Division Cl] Partition coefficients may be determined using apparatus comprising mixing (process) vessel 1 having inlet 39 for two substantially immiscible liquids to be mixed in the vessel and outlet 9 for the mixed liquids, conduit 8 connecting outlet 9 with a separating device 7, conduits 13, 15 as outlets for the separated liquid phases and detector means 17 connected in each of the outlet conduits for measuring the concentration of a selected substance contained in each of the separated liquid phases. A separated liquid may be recycled to vessel 1 through lines 19 and 33 preferably via heat exchanger 35. The signals from detector 17 and also those from accessory measuring means 29, for example for pH or temperature measurement, may be used to control the supply of liquids to inlet 39. Examples are given.
