1,170,841. Substituted #<SP>2</SP>-thiazolines and their preparation. LABORATOIRE ROGER BELLON. 7 Feb., 1968 [9 Feb., 1967], No. 6302/67. Heading C2C. Novel #<SP>2</SP>-thiazolines of the formula in which R<SP>1</SP> is butyl, pentyl, chlorophenyl, alkoxyphenyl in which the alkoxy group has 2-5 carbon atoms, polyalkoxyphenyl in which each alkoxy group is of 1-5 carbon atoms, or benzyl, and R 2 is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl and their acid addition salts are prepared by a process to prepare compounds of the above formula in which R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-6 alkyl, phenyl, phenyl substituted by one or more halogen atoms or C 1-6 alkoxy groups, phenyl (C 1-6 alkyl) naphthyl or naphthyl (C 1-6 alkyl), and R 2 is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl, by reacting an o-alkyl thioester of the formula R<SP>1</SP>-CS-OR with at least a molecular proportion of an ethylene imine of the formula in which R is C 1-6 alkyl and R 1 and R 2 are as defined above, or the product of reacting such an ethylene imine with hydrogen sulphide.
