Abstract

A device for treating a textile web 3 with moist cooling air comprises a perforated endless band conveyor 5 pivotally mounted on vertically adjustable supports 10, at least one blowing nozzle box 16 situated above the upper run of conveyor 5, a suction box 18 located beneath the upper run of conveyor 5, a folding device 21, 22 located adjacent the discharge end of the conveyor, means 27 for supplying moist cooling air to the nozzle box 16, both the nozzle box 16 and suction.box 18 being mounted on the adjustable supports 10. The device is constructed on a movable frame 1. The endless conveyor 5 has its rollers 6 mounted on a rigid beam 7, which beam is connected to supports 10 by pivots 8. The angle of inclination of the conveyor 5 can be altered by means of a rod 13 having a threaded end cooperating with a screw nut 15 attached to a support 10. The supports 10 are vertically adjustable by a rack and pinion system 10a, 11. The moist cooling air when passed through the blower box 16, which has a plurality of nozzles 17, and through the web 3 as it passes over the conveyor is exhausted through the suction box 18 and via conduit 19 returned to a refrigerating plant 27. Here the air is sprayed with water at +2‹C and recycled for further use. A measuring device 32 maintains a constant level of water in the refrigerator and a hygrometer 31 controls the moisture content.
