1,169,987. Bolts. C. J. GOWLAND. 27 Sept., 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], No. 44350/67. Heading E2A. A dead-bolt 1 has a laterally projecting pin 3 engaging a spiral cam-slot 11 in a manually rotatable knob 8 by means of which it is engaged and retracted. The knob is pivoted on a guide-disc 5 having a radial slot 7 which guides the pin 3. A spring-loaded pin 14 engages the slot 7 at each end of the travel and is freed by pulling knob 13. In a modification, the bolt slides in a lining tube instead of the face-plate 1a.
