Abstract

1,169,298. Transporting vehicles on railway wagons. SOC. NOUVELLE DES ATELIERS DE VENISSIEUX. 30 Nov., 1967 [5 Dec., 1966], No. 54541/67. Heading B7L. [Also in Division F2] A chock for locating a wheeled load on a railway vehicle having a floor with transverse corrugations 1, Fig. 1, comprises a base-plate 2 to rest on the corrugations, arms 6 rigidly secured to the base and bearing a projection 3 which engages a selected corrugation 1, a curved wheel receiving platform 8 having side guides 9 and projections 14 pivoted to the arms 6 on a shaft 7, and a damping support 10 pivoted to the shaft 7 and carrying resilient members 12, 11 of which the member 11 bears against the base-plate 2. The platform 8 has a stop 13 thereon to engage and compress the member 12 in the form of a rubber block, when a wheel is engaged with the platform. Impact forces on the railway vehicle are absorbed by the member 11, also in the form of a rubber block, when a stop 15 on the projections 14 engages the support 10. In another embodiment the support 10 is fixed to the projections 14 and both members 11 and 12 are on the lower side of the support 10, the stops 13, 15 being omitted.
