Abstract

1,169,131. Electromagnetic contactors. BROOKHIRST IGRANIC Ltd. 8 Jan., 1968 [31 Aug., 1967], No. 1115/68. Heading H1N. A linearly operated switch comprises an insulating housing 2 having a cavity 2a containing at least one pair of fixed contacts 6, 8, a contact carrier 14 carrying moving bridging contacts 10, 12, and having a portion 14a projecting outside the housing, a slide bar 20 having a portion 20c extending through the housing for operating an auxiliary switch and a portion 20b underlying contact carrier 14, a spring 22 between portion 20b and contact carrier 14 and a spring 24 such that when an external force is applied to contact carrier portion 14a to move it down, contacts 6, 10 are actuated and subsequently contact carrier 14 engages slide bar portion 20b to move slide bar 20 down and actuate an auxiliary switch connected to portion 20e of slide bar 20. The auxiliary switch may be mounted in threaded holes in inserts 4 in the top of casing 2. A cover 28 (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) is held on housing 2 by rivets 30. Extensions 2g (Fig. 3, not shown) having slots 2b serve as a mounting means for securing the switch to the side of a contactor.
