Abstract

1,168,868. Feeding device for weapons. BÍLKOW G.m.b.H. 8 March, 1967 [11 March, 1966], No. 11001/67. Heading F3C. A feed device for a weapon consists of a magazine which is rotatably mounted about its longitudinal axis and to which missiles 13-or firing tubes 14 containing the same are fed in a radial direction. The magazine is housed in loading chamber within an armoured vehicle so that a missile on the feed device can be locked to a launching device 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, the launching device being movable from the loading position to a firing position 4. In the construction shown two feed devices and two launching devices are shown, the feed devices being provided with missiles or firing tubes containing missiles from a magazine in the form of a grating 45. Each feed device is rotated step by step so that a missile or a firing tube containing a missile can be gripped by jaws (31, 32, Figs. 2, 3, not shown) of a launching device the jaws being pivoted on a bearing shaft 33. Pressure pieces and a centring piece are provided on the inner surfaces of the jaws, the centring piece co-operating with a recess 21 in the missile or tube containing a missile. The launching devices 3, 3<SP>1</SP> each consist of an elevator carriage running in rails or channels 23 which are mounted vertically on the vehicle. The jaws and shaft assembly are connected to the elevator carriage through a pivoting device 28. On elevation of a launching device a hatch cover 43 is automatically removed from a slit-shaped hatch 44 through which the launching device passes. The feed device and jaws are driven by hydraulic motors 22, 34 respectively and the whole wagon system is controlled by a sequence switch system.
