Abstract

1,168,435. Folding tables. P. J. M. O. SANCHEZ. 4 Oct., 1966, No. 44216/66. Heading A4H. A table comprises a drop leaf 2 hinged to a main table portion 1 and supported in horizontal position by a movable support framework 3 pivoted at 13 to the main portion and moved to supporting position by a draw cord 4 one end of which is secured to a slider 9 moving in a guide 10 on the underside of the drop leaf. The cord passes over pulleys 12, 8, 7, 6 and the other end is secured to the main portion at 5. In modifications the other end of the cord 4 is secured to the support framework, the support framework is pivoted on a horizontal axis to the end of the drop leaf remote from the main portion, or a drop leaf is provided at each end of the main portion. In further modifications the leaf 2 is supported by two movable support frameworks, the cords of which may be operated by a single slider, or the movable support framework is hinged to the main portion by an articulated frame which folds upon itself and includes a spring hinge for automatic opening.
