Abstract

1,168,221. Sawing. E. FULLERTON, and H. HARTLEY, [trading as TURBO TOOLS]. 10 Jan., 1968, No. 1366/68. Heading B5L. A cutter for cutting confectionery, such as cakes, comprises a saw blade 17 connected at its ends to one end of each of a pair of doublearm levers 1, 2, the other ends of the levers being interconnected, one of the levers being oscillated to cause simultaneous movement of both levers. The levers have arms of equal length and are mounted on pivots 3, 4, pivot 3 being on a limb 6 of an inverted U-shaped housing, and pivot 4 being on one arm 10 of a bell-crank lever 11 mounted on a pivot 12 on the housing. A spring 13 or latch acts on the other arm of the lever 11 to urge the pivots 3, 4 apart so as to tension the blade 17 connected to the lower end of the levers 1, 2 and a symmetrical strip 14 connected to the upper end of the arms. Rocking of lever 11 about pivot 12 releases the tension of blade 17 during removal or replacement thereof. Lever 1 is driven by an eccentric 9 from a motor 8. The housing has a socket 24 for mounting at adjustable height on a post 21 of a confectionery machine for cutting cake carried past the cutter on a conveyer 23.
