Abstract

1,166,403. N-t-Butoxycarbonyl amino acids and 2,4,5 - trichlorophenyl esters. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 23 April, 1968 [21 July, 1967], No. 33705/67. Heading C2C. N - t - butyloxycarbonylamino - acids and the 2,4,5-trichlorophenyl esters thereof are prepared by the interaction of t-butyl 2,4,5-trichlorophenyl carbonate with a base-addition salt of the amino-acid, followed, if a 2,4,5-trichlorophenyl ester is required, by the interaction of N,N<SP>1</SP> - dicyclohexylcarbodi - imide with the mixture of 2,4,5-trichlorophenol and N-t-butyloxycarbonyl-amino-acid produced by the initial interaction. Many examples are given and the following esters are novel: the 2,4,5-trichlorophenyl esters of the N-t-butyloxycarbonyl derivatives of the following amino-acids, S- benzyl - L - cysteine, S - methyl - L - cysteine, S - ethyl - L - cysteine, N<SP>α</SP>- benzyloxycarbonyla,# - diaminopropionic acid, N<SP>α</SP> - benzyloxycarbonyl - α,γ - diaminobutyric acid, N<SP>Y</SP>- benzyloxycarbonyl - α,γ - diaminobutyric acid, L - glutamine, L - isoleucine, L - leucine, DL- 3 - aminoisobutyric acid, N<SP>8</SP> - benzyloxycarbonyl - L - ornithine, N<SP>α</SP> - benzyloxycarbonyl - L - ornithine, D - phenylalanine, O- benzyl-L-tyrosine and L-valine.
