Inking-apparatus.-In an inking- apparatus for a printing-machine, of the kind in which a series of distributing-rollers are reciprocated axially on a distributing-drum by a cam common to them all, the rollers are mounted on a pivoted frame so that they can be moved clear of the drum when desired. The reciprocating movement of the distributing-rollers a on the distributing-drum f is effected by the engagement of collars c on the spindles b of the rollers, with a grooved cam c mounted freely on the axle of the drum f and driven from a suitable part of the press such as the shaft of the forme cylinder g bv bevel and worm gear h, i, j, k. The rollers u and one of the forme-inking rollers x are mounted on a pivoted frame q comprising end brackets r and a dustexcluding cover-plate s, so that they may be turned clear of the drum f, as shown in dotted lines, Fig. 1. The other forme-inking roller y is carried by a pivoted bracket m<2> which is connected to the frame q by toothed segments a<1>, b<1> whereby the bracket m<2> and frame q are operated simultaneously. The bearings of the distributing-rollers a may be separately adjusted by screws u, the screws at each end of each roller being operated simultaneously by bevel-gears s and a shaft w provided with a hand-wheel. The drum is preferably constructed to form the ink reservoir as described in Specification 116,325.
