Abstract
1,165,125. Metallurgical converters. HUTTENWERKSANLAGEN m.b.H. GES. FUR. 11 Jan., 1968 [9 Feb., 1967], No. 1676/68. Heading F4B. A tiltable metallurgical converter 3 is mounted in an eccentric ring 5 which is in turn mounted rotatably in a carrier ring 4, the former being rotatable in the converter and means being provided for rotating eccentric ring 5 to gyrate the converter without rotating it. Ring 5 has a toothed rim 6 engaged by a pinion on a drive motor 7 and carries inner radial rollers 21 engaging a track 14 on a mounting ring 13 attached to the converter 3 and outer radial rollers 22 engaging a track 17 on carrier ring 4. Rollers 21, 22 are arranged in pairs connected by rocking levers. Taper rollers 23-26 running on inner and outer tracks on the ring 5 are divided into pairs, rollers 23 and 24 forming support rollers for axially supporting converter 3 in ring 5, and rollers 25 and 26 forming retaining rollers which hold the converter 3 and ring 5 when the converter is tilted. Rollers 24 and 25 are mounted on the carrier ring 4 and rollers 23 and 26 are mounted on the mounting ring 13. An articulated arm (8, Fig. 2) extends between converter 3 and carrier ring 4 to prevent rotation of the converter itself about its longitudinal axis.
