Abstract
1,164,950. Hollow-plate heat exchangers. ROSENBLADS PATENTER A.B. 15 Aug., 1967 [22 Aug., 1966], No. 37451/67. Heading F4S. Relates to heat exchangers in which flat - sided hollow plates 1 are arranged side-by-side and spaced apart from one another by spacing means 6 which bridge the interspace 5 between neighbouring hollow plates. Each hollow plate 1 comprises a pair of gutter shaped plates 2, 3 disposed face-to-face and secured together by edge welds 4 and the invention consists in a method of assembly in which two gutter elements 2, 3 are placed back to back and welded together with the spacing means 6 interposed between said elements. These subassemblies are then placed side-by-side so that the plates 2, 3 of adjacent assemblies are in face to face relation, and these plates are then edge welded at 4 to complete the assembly. The spacing means 6 may consist of stud-like members of circular or square cross-section having their opposite ends welded to the appropriate wall 2 or 3 of the hollow plate 1. Alternatively the spacing means may comprise bosses (6a, Fig. 3) protruding from the wall of one hollow plate of each adjacent pair of such plates, and welded either to an embossed portion of the wall of the other plate, or to a similar boss protruding from said wall.
