Abstract

1,162,961. Flexible tube pumps. CESKOSLOVENSK AKADEMIE VED. Jan. 9, 1967 [Jan. 10, 1966], No. 1145/67. Heading F1F. A periotaltic pump comprising one or more flexible tubes 1, Fig. 2, includes for each tube, besides a single pressure roller 2 movable lengthwise along the tube to produce periotaltic flow of a liquid, a further squeezing element 30 which is operative to squeeze the tube during the time when the pressure roller moves away from the tube and returns to its starting position. The pressure roller 2 is carried on the end of an arm 5 pivotted at 7 to a spring-loaded, bellcrank lever 8 which carries a follower 10 engageable by a cam 11 fixed to a rotatable shaft 12 which also has further cams affixed thereto to engage followers 24, 27 to move a thrust plate 16 into and out of engagement with the pressure roller 2 and the squeezing element 30 into and out of engagement with the tube 1. With tubes 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP>, Fig.3, of different wall thicknesses, the support member 4 against which the tubes are pressed may be stepped and/or the pressure rollers may be of differing diameters. Preferably the lengthwise movement of the rollers is adjustable by means of an adjustable stop member which engages a roller carried by the pivot 7 to limit the rightward movement of the arm 5 and hence of the roller 2 to vary the amount of liquid pumped. Additional refinements include means whereby resilient adjustable thrusts may be applied to the pressure roller 2 and the squeezing element 30.
