1,162,362. Gauging by sorting. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. D.W. MOLINS and T. ROWLANDS. Oct. 7, 1966 [Oct. 8, 1965], No. 42797/65. Heading G1M. Apparatus for testing the dimensions of rodlike articles comprises an inked wheel 2, test drums 3, 12 and an outfeed chair conveyer 18, drums 3 and 12 having recesses 5, 13 respectively which define the required length and shape of the article under test, the recesses having suction holes at each end to retain the article. In use, articles are fed in by the wheel 2 to be gripped by suction in the recesses 5 to be transported to a change-over position where they are transferred to drum 12. If the articles are of the wrong length or shape, they are not securely gripped by suction and fall out into receptacles 11, 16.
