[Also in Division H3] A voltage doubler rectifier circuit for detecting bursts of radio frequency signals comprises a capacitor 12 and diode 22 together with a transistor 16 and a further capacitor 36, the transistor conducting on positive half-cycles of the input signal so that its base-emitter junction functions as a second diode. The output circuit may comprise an inductance 32, a capacitor 38, and a resistance 40 connected between an output terminal 34 and earth. The collector is biased by a source 30 and decoupled by a capacitor 31; the capacitors may be feedthrough capacitors, as shown. The resistance 26 provides operational stability of preceding stages, but may be unnecessary.
