Abstract

1,157,824. Shaft kilns. VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE A.G. 17 Aug., 1966 [18 Aug., 1965], No. 36816/66. Heading F4B. In a shaft kiln, a burner sleeve 8 containing a burner 10 incorporates in a lateral extension 9 of the burner sleeve, an oxygen lance 11 and an observation tube 12, the axis of the oxygen lance being at an angle to the axis of the burner such that the oxygen jet issuing from the lance will impinge on the flame formed by the burner at a distance from the outlet of the burner. The mounting of the lance permits movement of the lance to vary the angle between its axis and that of the burner so that the said distance can be varied.
