Abstract

1,156,459. Starch aerosol composition; polysiloxanes. DOW CORNING CORP. 21 March, 1968 [11 April, 1967], No. 13617/68. Headings C3T and C3U. [Also in Division C4] An aerosol starch composition contains as lubricant a silicone having a viscosity of 90,000-110,000 c.p.s. at 25‹ C., and which has been made by emulsion condensation of a hydroxyl endblocked dimethylpolysiloxane. Exemplified compositions contain water, with sodium benzoate (preservative), formalin (bactericide), and sodium bicarbonate (buffer) using a mixture of dichlorotetrafluoroethane and dichlorodifluoromethane as propellants. A polydimethylsiloxane of viscosity about 100,000 c.p.s. (at 25‹ C.) is made by condensing an 80 c.p.s. HO-terminated polydimethylsiloxane in emulsion in water, in the presence of dodecyl benzene sulphonic acid, with the aid of a colloid mill and a homogenizer, using triethanolamine to control the pH.
