Abstract

1,153,228. Rolling. LOEWY ROBERTSON ENG. CO. Ltd. 3 Jan., 1968 [25 Jan., 1967], No. 3789/67. Heading B3M. A roll-changing carriage 14a for a mill stand A is provided with tracks 16<SP>1</SP>, 1611 for used and replacement work rolls, and is movable along an obliquely positioned track 17 so that either track 16<SP>1</SP> or 16<SP>11</SP> can be aligned with a similar track 13 passing through the stand. Exterior tracks 18, which are retractable below floor level when not in use, extend between the track 13 and an appropriate track 16<SP>1</SP> or 16<SP>11</SP>. For stands A, B and C in tandem, a similar carriage and track 17 is provided for each stand. The carriages are operable independently, and can be positioned using limit switches if desired.
