Abstract

1,152,756. Pipe couplings. HEPWORTH IRON CO. Ltd. 28 Oct., 1967, No. 49106/67. Heading F2G. Pipes of dissimilar external diameters are connected together by a slightly resilient synthetic plastics sleeve 3, Fig. 1, having at one end means for securing and sealing to the larger pipe and having at the other end an inwardly extending annular flange 4 terminating in an inwardly extending annular lip 5 with a reduction in thickness between the flange and the lip. The sleeve may be of modified or unmodified 'rigid' polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, polyacetal, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and polypropylene and the sealing ring 8 may be of natural or synthetic rubber. Alternatively the means for securing and sealing the larger pipe may be an outwardlyextending annular flange for fitting in a pipe socket to be secured in place by cement mortar.
