Abstract
1,152,462. Fertilizers. FISONS FERTILIZERS Ltd. 22 July, 1966 [13 Aug., 1965], No. 34851/65. Heading C1A. Concentrated fertilizer materials are prepared by reacting in the first of a series of reaction zones ground phosphate rock and slurry containing precipitated calcium sulphate recycled from a subsequent reaction zone, the reactants being added in such proportions as to maintain the soluble sulphate concentration in the first zone, in the range 0À5 to 4À0% by weight. The product of this zone passes through subsequent zones, feeding nitric acid and optionally phosphoric acid to one or more of the reaction zones, and optionally feeding sulphuric acid to one or more of the reaction zones other than the first and feeding a solution or slurry of a watersoluble sulphate such as potassium or ammonium sulphates or their acid salts to one of the subsequent zones, and using part of the resultant mixture from this zone as a recycle slurry to the first zone. The product is removed from the final zone, the calcium sulphate may be removed from it, and the product may be treated with a neutralizing agent such as ammonia gas, an ammoniating solution, potassium carbonate or hydroxide.
