Abstract
1,152,370. Casting composite articles. XALOY Inc. 30 June, 1966 [8 Sept., 1965], No. 29502/66. Heading B3F. [Also in Division C7] A ferrous metal housing may be lined with a wear-resistant alloy by charging it with shot or fused pieces of the appropriate composition, capping the ends and heating the assembly to between 2000‹ and 2300‹ F. to melt the alloy. The assembly is then rotated to spin the molten alloy over the internal surface thereof whilst allowing it to cool to 1700‹F; thereafter it is slow cooled, as by covering it with diatomaceous earth, to induce compressive stresses in the lining. Catalytic crackers, plastic extruders, mixers or tubes may be so lined.
