A water boiler comprises three or more concentric annular water chambers A, B, C, spaced apart by annular spaces A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>, whereby the hot combustion gases from a burner entering at F flow through the space A<SP>1</SP>, return through the space B<SP>1</SP>, and flow through the inner space C<SP>1</SP> to the outlet d<SP>2</SP>. The water enters the chambers through pipes a<SP>1</SP> . . . c<SP>1</SP> connected to a common feeder and leaves through pipes a<SP>4</SP> . . . c<SP>4</SP> connected to a common delivery pipe. The rate of flow through the water chambers is controlled by separate valves on the pipes a<SP>1</SP> . . . c<SP>1</SP>. Helical guide vanes may be provided around the chambers A ... C to increase the length of travel of the hot gases thereover.
