Abstract

1,146,999. Multiple twist spindle. PALITEX PROJECT-CO. G.m.b.H. 6 April, 1967 [7 April, 1966; 15 March, 1967], No. 15853/67. Heading DID. In a multiple twist spindle of the kind described in Specification 1,124,860 the bobbin carrier consists of a first part 7a, 8a having a threading up slot 24 and covering the taper rollers 4 and a second part 14 which has an axial plug insertable into the journal 6, the journal 6 having a threading up slot 16. Journal 6 is carried by the first part 7a, 8a and when part 14 is removed to have a fresh bobbin placed thereon, the rollers 4 remain enclosed and dirt is excluded. For servicing the rollers 6 with part 7a 8a can be removed. The protective cage 7a may be mounted on the second part 14 (Fig. 1, not shown). Slot 16 in journal 6 is preferably serpentine or slanted so that rollers 4 run smoothly. The upper end of slot 24 may be provided with overlapping lips to prevent the yarn accidently entering or the upper rim of the cage 7a may be provided with a removable, continuous ring (28) (Fig. 5, not shown). In the latter case the part 14 is provided with a wide flange which automatically lifts the ring off when part 14 is lifted clear. In Figs. 1 and 2, not shown, yarn tensioning means are provided in part 14, and in the form in Fig. 2 the loading of the tensioning means is adjustable by an electro-magnet the current through which is adjustable from outside the spindle.
