Abstract

1,146,928. Rolling tubes. ELEKTROSTALSKY ORDENA LENINA ZAVOD TYAZHELOGO MASHINOSTROENIA. 1 Aug., 1967 [1 Aug., 1966], No. 35362/67. Heading B3M. A tube rolling mill comprises at least two rolling stands 1, 2 each provided with a mandrel 7, 8, and grippers 11, 13 or 12, 14 arranged to alternatively hold the mandrel bar 9, 10. A roller table 15 is provided between the stands and preferably has at least one pair of cooperating feed rolls 18. In operation the tube 17 is fed between the rolls 3, 4 of the first stand over the mandrel 7 whose bar is gripped by grippers 13. After passing through the stand the tube is fed by rollers 20 off the mandrel on to the roller table 15 simultaneously with the mandrel bar being gripped by the grippers 11 and released by the grippers 13. The second stand may process a tube simultaneously with the first stand, Fig. 3 (not shown). The length of the tube is preferably less than the length of the roller table so that any tube unsuitable for further rolling may be removed from the production line as it passes over the roller table.
