Abstract

1,146,076. Thread reels. C. R. TYRER. 1 Sept., 1967 [1 June, 1966], No. 24403/66. Heading B8M. In a bobbin of the thread-reel type, the barrel 5 and one end 8 is formed as a hollow plastics moulding, and the other end 10 is moulded in the same or similar material with a circumferential groove 12 to receive the free end of the barrel, the axial through-hole 16 of the bobbin being defined by central tubes 9, 11 formed integrally with the ends 8 and 10 respectively, the tubes being of substantially equal length and spigotally engaged one with the other. The tubes 9, 11 are rebated as at 14, 15 to provide a continuous surface for the tube when the bobbin is assembled. The two components are preferably injection moulded in a thermoplastic synthetic resin e.g. polyethylene or polystyrene. The two components may be cemented together or the parts may be friction fitted together.
