Abstract

1,144,403. Incinerators. S. MATTEINI. 1 Feb., 1967 [7 Feb., 1966], No. 4854/67. Heading F4B. An incinerator comprises a rotary drum 4 with a perforated section 4B at one end, and a stationary end plate 14 at the other end carrying an ash shoot 18, a charging hopper 15 and a flue 16 at the side of the hopper. A stationary easing 8 surrounds the perforated part of the drum, and is extended downwardly to form a chamber 8B into which a burner 10 delivers. Helical radical lifters 12 extend over the whole length of the drum and spaced lifters 13 are inclined to the radial direction. Air for combustion enters the chamber 8B through its louvred side and is admitted through a dampered opening 11B at the top of the shell 8. Refuse fed from the hopper 15 is spread over the length of the shell by fast rotation, the burner 10 is ignited and the rotation is slowed during combustion, a fast reverse rotation delivering ash to the shoot 18 after the completion of the combustion.
