Abstract
1,104,232. Incinerators. S. MATTEINI. 11 Feb., 1966 [17 Feb., 1965; 5 May, 1965], No. 6009/66. Heading F4B. An incinerator for town refuse comprises a rotary drum combustion chamber communicating at its upper end 1a with a rotary drum drying chamber 17 having an outer jacket 19. Exhaust gases from the combustion can pass direct to a flue 27, through the drying chamber 17 to a flue 39, or through the space between the double walls 17, 19 of the drying chamber to a flue 33. Dampers 29, 35, 41 control the proportion of gases flowing in each path so that the combustion may be controlled. The feed hopper 37 has double gas-tight valves 43, 45, and lifters 7a are arranged in the inclined drums, which may be axially aligned, or may be inclined in opposite directions (Fig. 6, not shown). The lower end of the combustion chamber has a frusto-conical sieve with hooked lugs (13) so that combustion may be completed. A burner is arranged to deliver into the lower end of the combustion chamber (Fig. 3, not shown).
