Abstract

1,144,186. Transistor sawtooth circuits. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON-HOTCHKISS BRANDT. 8 Dec., 1966 [8 Dec., 1965], No. 55077/66. Heading H3T. A field deflection circuit for a television receiver comprises a unijunction transistor oscillator coupled via a capacitive divider to an output transistor. As shown, the series capacitors C2 ... C4 charge via resistor R2 during each scan until unijunction transistor T1 breaks down, discharging the capacitors. The capacitors form a lower impedance drive to the output transistor T2. Feed back via resistor R3 to the junction of capacitors C3, C4, together with the effect of the finite time constant of the inductor L provides an S-shaped deflection current in the coils L2 as required for flat screen correction. Resistors R3, R5 respectively control linearity and amplitude. The circuit may be synchronized at A. Fig. 1 (not shown) relates to a known circuit in which capacitor C2 is omitted and an emitter follower interposed between point D and the base of transistor T2.
