1,143,367. Alkali-refining oils. UNILEVER Ltd. 17 March, 1966 [19 March, 1965; 20 Dec., 1965], No. 11701/66. Heading C5C. In a process for the alkali-refining of crude glyceride oils containing free fatty acids, especially those having a relatively high initial free fatty acid content, oils having a lower free fatty acid content are added before the alkali treatment of the oils. The added oil may but need not be the same as the oil to be refined. Once started by adding oil from an external source, the process may be run continuously by recycling part of the purified product.
