Abstract

1,143,020. Feeding sheets. MASCHINENFABRIK RICHARD BILLHOFER. 14 Dec., 1967 [16 Dec., 1966], No. 56902/67. Heading B6B. [Also in Division B2] A sheet 13 passes along a plate 14 to the nip of a coating roller 16 and a pressure roller 3, the leading edge of sheet 13 being seized between pick-up fingers 10 and a bar 6 mounted within a recess formed in roller 3. The fingers 10 are rigid with a shaft 1, the ends of which are journalled in respective plates 2, each of which is pivoted on a pin 4 carried by a plate 4<SP>1</SP> fixed to an end face of roller 3, the axis of pins 4 being coincident with the surface of roller 3. Fingers 10 are biased by a spring 30 against bar 6 which is carried by the arms 2. Shaft 1 is connected by a pitman 9 to an eccentric 8 on the shaft 7 carrying roller 3. An arm 5, rigid with shaft 1, carries a follower roller 12 cooperating with a cam 11 rigid with shaft 7. The arrangement is thereby such that the normally-open fingers 10 close at the pick-up point on said leading edge which extends into the recess in roller 3. During further progression, shaft 1 is raised by eccentric 8 and pitman 9 whereby, at the draw-off point when fingers 10 re-open, the leading edge lies at a tangent to the surface of roller 3 for seizure by travelling draw-off fingers 15. The latter are rigid with a shaft 18 journalled in blocks 19 carried by respective chains 20 mounted on sprockets 23. The fingers 15 are biased by a spring 29 against rings 25 on a shaft 24 rigid with the blocks 19. An arm 26, rigid with shaft 18, carries a follower roller 27 co-operating with a fixed cam 28 to open and close fingers 15 at the draw-off point.
