Abstract

1,142,157. Valves. Y. CHAPOU. 2 March, 1966 [9 March, 1965], No. 9209/66. Heading F2V. [Also in Division A4] A tap comprises a main valve member 3, a main outlet 8 and an alternative outlet 9 to a shower. The main outlet 8 is provided with an auxiliary valve 11 (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) carried by a spindle 16 slidable in a sleeve (17) carried by a seat member 10 The lower end of the spindle is connected to a guide 22 and a spring (19) biases the valve 11 away from its seat (12) at the top of member 10. When the valve 11 is seated by pulling guide 22 down, it remains seated under the water pressure and flow is diverted to the shower via check valve 28. As shown, valve 11 is guided with clearance during its travel in a chamber 27, such an arrangement serving to prevent too rapid closure of the valve.
