Abstract

114,129. Dehn, F. B., (Diamond, J. K.). Dec. 31, 1917. Belt-fastenings. - Continuous wire fasteners fixed to the ends of a driving-belt are formed with loops 5 which are connected together by a cross pin 6. Each wire is bent into a number of arms 7 to engage the sides of the belt. The bights 8 are turned .down to dig into the belt and are secured by pronged fasteners 10 or by headed spikes 9, the ends of which are clinched. The sides of the fasteners 10 are bevelled and the points are clinched laterally in opposite directions. The wires terminate in prongs 13 which are embedded in the belt. In a modification, the continuous wires are replaced by a number of separate loops 5 each formed with a depressed bight 8 and a prong 13 at each end.
