Abstract
114,059. Benham, A., and Smith, T. Freebairn-. April 18, 1917. Expanded metal.-A reinforcement for concrete piles, sleepers, roofing, subways, flooring, walls, &c. is formed by slitting a sheet of metal as shown in Fig. 1, and expanding the sheet into either of the forms shown in Figs. 2 and 5. In the first form, a single top platform f and bottom side platforms d, h are connected to intermediate platforms e, g by ties i which incline in opposite directions on opposite sides. In the second form, two upper platforms e, g alternate with three lower platforms d, f, h and the ties i are alternately inclined in opposite directions.
