Abstract

1,140,282. Slip-casting. CERAMIC ENG. Ltd. 4 Sept., 1967 [8 Sept., 1966], No. 40162/66. Heading B5A. Each mould of a battery of moulds for slip casting, e.g. wash basins, comprises detachable parts 2, 3 with an inlet 8 for slip at its bottom and an outlet (15), Fig. 2, not shown, at its top whereby slip is fed, e.g. by a pump, continuously during a casting period through the mould from inlet to outlet. From the outlet the slip flows via a channel on the outside of the mould to a trough arranged parallel to the moulds. After the casting period the flow of slip is reversed to run off the excess, after which the flow is stopped to allow the article to set sufficiently to enable its removal from the mould. For the latter purpose the parts 2 and 3 are separated horizontally during which they run on rollers 6 on a bench 7, and the cast article is removed horizontally from the mould part 2. The parts 2 and 3 are attached to adjacent moulds; the moulds are tilted transversely towards their inlets.
