Abstract

1,138,776. R.F. energy tight raceway system. DANZER METAL WORKS CO. 7 Aug., 1967, No. 36219/67. Headings H2C and H2E. An R.F. energy retaining duct system comprises several duct sections each having a troughlike body and a removable cover, connector units for adjacent duct sections having telescoping interfitting engagement with end portions of an adjacent pair of duct sections, and metallic R.F. shielding gasketing on the connectors and covers. As shown in Fig. 1, a zinc-coated, sheet steel system comprises trough sections 20, crosses 21, elbows 22, 25 and 26, stub ends 23 and T- sections 24, joined by connectors 34, Fig. 8, comprising a channel section 35 having welded therein a spacer 39 and a U-shaped strap 38, providing passages 40 which receive metallic gasketing 41 ending in pads 43 which lie on flanges 36 of the connector. Ends of adjacent troughs 27 enter the passages 40 and abut the gasketing 41, with flanges 30 of the troughs overlying flanges 36. Connecting pins 50 pass through aligned slots 47 and 46 in flanges 30 and 36 respectively and through aligned slots 49 and 45 in coacting brackets 48 and 44 on the troughs 27 and connector 34 respectively. Covers 32, releasably secured to troughs 27 by cam fasteners 61, carry longitudinal strips (52) and integral transverse strips 54 of the same gasketing material on their insides, the gasketing material being held in place by rubber strips 53 (and 55), bonded to the insides of the covers, and prevented from sagging by a lip 57, having an extension (58), welded to the inside of one cover. In the assembled condition, strips (52) are compressed between covers 32 and flanges 30 and the corner portions of strips (52) and 54 lie on the pads 43 to give a complete R.F. seal. In a modification (Figs. 15 to 17, not shown), parallel divider plates (70), slidably engaging channel rails (73) welded to the bottoms (74) of trough sections (71) divide the sections into parallel channels.
