Abstract
1,137,928. Bushings. SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 Oct., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966], No. 44061/66. Headings H2C and H2E. A high voltage bushing comprises a vacuum cast epoxy resin core 8 and a protective shell 1, of a ceramic containing at least 85% by weight of alumina, the shell being formed of adhesively bonded alternate spacers 2, 3 and rain sheds 4 and 5. The bushing is mounted by a flange 7 of a metal member 6 on the case of an oil filled capacitor or transformer, and a cable (not shown) from within the casing passes through an anti-corona steel shielding tube 10 and is brazed or soldered to a brass terminal stud 9, in turn brazed to a steel disc 13 or rain shed 4. The core may include cylindrical tubular fillers. The tube 10 may be omitted.
