Abstract
1,135,895. Hydraulic apparatus. ISLEF & HAGEN A/S. June 5, 1967 [June 14, 1966], No. 25921/67. Heading F1P. [Also in Division B3] A piston 2 for moving the saddle or carriage of a machine tool, performs a stroke in a cylinder 1 at two speeds by controlling the rate at which liquid is exhausted from one end of the cylinder through a line 8, when a line 7 connected to the other end of the cylinder is pressurized by operation of a changeover valve 4, connected to a pres - sure source 5 and a sump 6. Liquid exhausted from the cylinder 1 enters the space 17 of a cylinder 11 and acts on one side of a floating piston 15, which thus moves to expel liquid from the cylinder space 18 on the other side thereof, through passages 13, 28, a line 14, and the changeover valve to the sump 6. The piston 15 closes the passage 13 near the end of its stroke and a valve 22, 24 in the piston is opened by abutment with a projection 27, so that the exhausting liquid passes through the piston 15 and leaves the cylinder through a restriced path provided by the passage 28 containing an adjustable throttle valve 29. Reversal of the valve 4 returns the pistons 2, 15 to the positions shown, where an axially adjustable abutment 30 opens a second valve 21, 23 in the piston 15 to enable flow therethrough to complete the return stroke of the piston 2.
