Abstract

1,135,255. Turbine blades; models. SOCIETE de PARTICIPATIONS KALI-QUEST. 2 Sept., 1966 [21 Oct., 1965], No. 39364/66. Heading B5A. A process for making models for use in precision foundry castings e.g. turbine blades, comprises (i) preparing a model of the object to be reproduced (ii) placing it into a mould of at least two parts leaving a space around it (iii) introducing fluid synthetic material into said space through conduits in the mould parts (iv) solidifying said material (v) separating the mould parts and removing a mould of said synthetic material (vi) using the mould-parts with the formed mould to mould reproductions of said model. The process may be applied to the making of the models of turbine blades wherein a model of the hub is placed in the moulds so as to mould and adhere each blade separately in position on the hub to produce a complete blade model.
