Abstract

1,135,225. Rock breakers. CHAMPION, Inc. 17 Nov., 1965 [18 Nov., 1964], No. 48747/65. Heading E1F. The hydraulic circuit associated with the double acting piston cylinder unit of a vertically acting rock breaker is such that the fluid displaced from the cylinder space beneath the piston on the down stroke of the piston is delivered with pressurised fluid from fluid supply means to the cylinder space above the piston to aid in the acceleration of the piston during the down stroke thereof, whilst on the upstroke of the piston pressurised fluid is supplied to the lower cylinder space and that to the upper cylinder space is cut off, the fluid in the upper cylinder space then being exhausted. The circuit also incorporates means for allowing of manual or automatic operation of the breaker, for safeguarding the circuit against overload and shock, for adjusting the stroke of the breaker, and for preventing overtravel of the breaker.
