Abstract

1,135,192. Bolt fastenings. HEYWOODHELLIWELL Ltd. 14 Feb., 1966 [26 Jan., 1965], No. 3305/65. Heading E2A. A bolt has a portion which in use extends .across an intersection between two members to be secured relatively to one another the portion comprising a sleeve 25 of hard material rotatably mounted on a rod 12. In the construction shown the sleeve 25 is enclosed by an outer sleeve 21 the bore of which is of larger diameter than the outer diameter of the hard sleeve 25 so as to leave an annular gap between the two sleeves. The sleeve 21 has a threaded bore in one end portion by which it is connected to a threaded portion of the rod 12. The threaded bore of the sleeve 21 provides a shoulder between it and the bore which surrounds the sleeve 25 to locate the sleeve 25 in one direction and there is a retaining ring engaged in a groove in the sleeve 21 and projecting radially inwardly to retain the sleeve 25 for movement in the other direction. The sleeve 25 can be made of hard metal, ceramic material or glass and the sleeve 21 can be made of a synthetic resin e.g. nylon.
