Abstract

1,135,006. Sheet forming. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. 18 July, 1967 [21 July, 1966], No. 32973/67. Heading B5A. Hot water bottles and like flat hollow articles are blow moulded by means of an inflation tube 4 from a pair of blanks 20 located between the hinged halves 1, 2 of a heated vulcanization mould. During the initial phase of the moulding operation, the mould halves are not completely closed and the blanks are partially applied to the mould by the resultant stream of pressure fluid. After a period of a few seconds, the mould is completely closed against the action of springs 8 and the blanks blown into complete contact with the mould by the resultant static pressure. Finally steam is introduced through tube 4 to effect complete vulcanization of the blanks and to effect the bonding of the clamped edges of the blanks.
