Abstract

In a blow-moulding process the parison is stretched laterally so as to lie outside at least two borders of the mould cavity, before the blow-moulding stage. As shown in Fig. 2, the parison 7 is extruded from the die 8 over a pair of rods 9 which are subsequently moved apart laterally to a position outside the mould cavity 5. The parison 7 is then expanded between mould halves, e.g. 3, mounted on platens, e.g. 1. The product may be a motor vehicle door pad and may be formed in separate panels connected by passages and may be filled with foam material.
