Abstract

1,134,169. Winding fabric webs. GAYLEY WYCOMBE CORP. 16 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 12450/67. Heading B6B. A knitted fabric web delivered from a knitting machine 10 passes successively round idler rollers 28, 32 and 34, a looping roller 36 and idler rollers 38 and 40, before being wound on to a spindle driven roll 14. The looping roller 36 is limited to vertical movement by parallel guides 78 and switches 82 and 86 respectively switch off and on the motor 24 driving the roll 14. Since the web is wound on to the rail 14 at a faster rate than it is being delivered from the machine 10, the looping roller 36 is continually moving up and down. In the event of switches 82 and 86 failing to operate, additional switches 84 and 88 are provided, which when operated, shut down the machine 10 as well as the motor 24. An inspection platform 30, beneath which the web passes between idler rollers 28 and 32, allows the operator to inspect the fabric as it passes between idler rollers 32 and 34.
