A guide assembly for a sliding door or panel comprises a guide rail 12 on which slides by means of tongues 18, a top part 15 detachably interconnected a bottom part 16 attached to the top end of the door or panel - the guide means - parts 15, 16 being detachable so that one part can be rotated through 180‹ about an axis extending in the direction in which the means 15, 16 depends from the rail 12 in service and the parts reconnected. To do so the part 15 has a slot 20 in which fits a leg 24 on the part 16 removable by sliding it transverse to the slot before rotating and re-inserting. The slot sides have serrations, the leg having complementary serrations 26. One of the check plates 19 forming the slot 20 has a hole 22 through which a screw 21 can pass, to be threaded into a tapped hole in the other passing through a slot 25 in the leg 24 in so doing.
