Abstract
1,129,760. Ladders. UPRIGHT Inc. 27 Oct., 1966 [10 May, 1966], No. 48199/66. Heading A6L. [Also in Division El] A ladder 21 is pivoted on the upper horizontal tubes 12 of a frame having groundengaging props 32 for stabilizing the ladder which are pivoted offset on vertical tubes 13 of the frame so that, when the ladder is swung down to a horizontal position and the props are folded against the frame for moving the ladder, the props obstruct movement of the ladder to operative position and thus prevent its use with the props in folded position. The pivots 29 of the ladder are offset oppositely to the platform 24 on top of the ladder so that the centre of gravity is in such a position as to swing the ladder down to its folded position and prevent its use unless the ladder is positively secured by clamps 46. In operative position the lower tubes 34 of the props each extend half way across the frame and engage a stop 43. One prop can be raised to avoid the stop and be folded the other way so that it does not obstruct the ladder, so that the ladder can be used against a wall. A stop prevents similar movement of the other prop.
