Abstract

1,014,684. Scaffolding. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd., M. J. TUCKER & V. K. WILLIAMS. Dec. 13, 1962 [Jan. 17, 1962], No. 1711/62. Heading E1S. Two or more scaffold planks 14x-14z are hinged side by side to fold one on top of the other to allow passage up ladders on the rungs 15 of which the planks rest. The plank 14x is secured to the rungs by a bracket 16 and a pivoted latch 17 and lateral movement is prevented by an angle bracket 18. A telescopically adjustable hand rail 20a, for use with the scaffold planks, is mounted on a ladder rung by a hook 22, Fig. 7, underneath which is an inverted hook 23 to prevent disengagement, the gaps between hooks 22, 23 being just large enough to admit the rung. An angle bracket 21 prevents lateral movement. Metal lattice may be used in place of planks.
