[Also in Division D1] A drive for a circular knife 5, rotatably mounted on a headpiece 1 which is keyed to a rotary shaft 2, comprises a bevel gear 13 rotatably mounted on the shaft 2, independently of the headpiece 1, and connected to a shaft 6 carrying the knife 5 by a shaft 10, supported by the headpiece 1, and bevel gears 8, 11 and 12. A pulley 20 is integral with bevel gear 13 and is driven from an electric motor 15 by means of a pulley 14 on the motor shaft and a V-belt 16.
