Abstract

466,755. Endless - belt conveyers. CAIRD, E. C., CHISHOLME, G. G., and CAIRD & CO., Ltd., F. P. Dec. 3, 1935, No. 33449. [Class 78 (i)] The driving drum 11 of an endless-belt or like conveyer 22 is rotatably mounted on the stator 8 of an electric motor which is housed within the drum and is geared thereto. The rotor shaft 10 projects into a casing 18 secured to one of the side frames 7 supporting the drum and carries a pinion 15 meshing with an internally toothed wheel 16 secured to a stub-shaft 17 which drives the drum 11 through a pinion 20 and internally toothed gear wheel 21 secured within the drum whereby two stages of reduction gear are provided between the motor and drum. Two driving drums each with an internal motor geared thereto may be provided to increase the contact area with the conveyer, or alternatively two driving drums both driven from one motor housed within one of them may be used.
