A liquid fuel heat radiator comprises a radiation tube 2, a reflector 42 and a combustion air preheater 17 which, together with other essential parts and control units, are mounted on a vertically movable carrier 43 suspended from mounting 48 attached to the ceiling. Pump 26 draws oil from a tank 30, through tube 29 and socket-type coupling 28 to the burner 4; combustion air is drawn through filter 23, by pump 22, and is passed through the air heater 17 and then into the combustion chamber via duct 12. The heat radiator 2 comprises an inner tube 3 and an outer tube, composed of sections 6 and 7, the space between the inner and outer tubes being divided into two chambers 10 and 11 by a flange 9. Before reaching the combustion zone, air from duct 12 enters chamber 10 and so cools, by circulating around it, the inner tube 3; combustion products on leaving the inner tube via holes 14 and outlet 15 pass between the inner and outer tubes and so heat to incandescence the outer tube 7, and then pass, via duct 16, into the air preheater. On lowering the heater, coupling 28, exhaust duct 20 and electrical supply plug 41 automatically disconnect, the nature of the coupling 28 being indicated in Fig. 4, not shown. De-aeration of the pressure line 31 is effected by pipe 51 and a solenoid operated valve 52. In a modification (Fig. 6), an intermediate oil tank (70) is disposed between coupling 28 and burner 4 thereby removing the need for de-aeration. In a further modification (Fig. 7), the heater is fixed and the burner 4<SP>1</SP> is fed with gaseous fuel, hot combustion products heating radiation tube 81 and then passing to combustion air preheater 17<SP>1</SP>.
